Authenticity with the following information: This handmade brick, circa 1850, coming from Georgetown, South Carolina, is authenticated as such by legal affidavits and research documents held by Confederate Artifacts, Incorporated. The Brick was part of a foundry located near Goat Island, which was used just prior to and during the Civil War for modifying cannons and munitions. This weaponry was purported to have been used to fire some of the first shots of the Civil War, including the attack of Fort Sumter which was less than fifty miles away. |
